History

Turning Point of Franklin County first opened its doors on June 20th, 2011. The mission of Turning Point is to provide a safe, supportive, substance-free environment for people interested in recovery and their families. Our Center is one of the eleven Recovery Centers in Vermont, all founded on the premise of providing "peer-to-peer" recovery support services. The Center provides a location for individuals in a setting which is conductive to recovery. Some examples of the support we provide are space for recovery meetings including 12-step (AA, NA, Nar-anon etc.) and non-twelve-step meetings; Our role is to provide support to those who choose to spend time in our center and to assure that we provide a welcoming, safe environment for people to spend time before and after meetings.

The concept of peer to peer recovery has expanded from the original 12-step models. Now, our challenge is to honor the traditions of these programs while being inclusive of other populations who don't all necessarily view recovery as a "spiritual solution" but who need and deserve to benefit from the help and support that is often referred to as recovery support services. Turning Point is not affiliated with AA, NA or any other approach to recovery; our mission is to provide a safe, supportive, substance-free environment that is welcoming to everyone seeking recovery.
